Subclass 485

Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485 ) changes for Higher Education Students
There are increment of the duration of stay for graduates with selected Bachelor and higher level degrees by two years for some Subclass 485 by the Australian Government.

However, the selected degrees must be in the skills shortage area which determined by working group.

Removal of occupation nomination and skills assessment requirement for Subclass 485 Graduate Work Stream applicants

The Australian Government have removed the requirement to nominate an occupation from the skilled occupation list and skills assessment requirement has been removed for 485 Graduate Work Stream applications that lodge visa between 1 July 2022 until 30 June 2023.

Basic Eligibility
You need to be:
  • under 50 years old
  • holding an valid or eligible visa
  • held a student visa in previous 6 months
  • contain or currently having a recent qualification in a CRICOS- registered course
  • must be nominating one stream only - it is not allow to make changes visa stream after applied
  • must be able to attach specified evidence during the application

Graduate Work Stream

International students that just graduated from qualified institute in Australia with relevant skills and qualifications that meet the specific occupations in Australia will be allowed to live, study and work in Australia temporarily.

Stay
Usually up to 18 months.
Temporarily increased to 24 months for visas granted from 1 December 2021. Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders may stay for 5 years.
Cost
Starting from AUD 1,730

Processing Time

  • 25% of applications: 5 Months

  • 50% of applications: 11 Months

  • 75% of applications: 13 Months

  • 90% of applications: 17 Months

Conditions

  • You are allowed to bring your family.

  • Must have qualification that relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list. (Note: This is not required for application lodged during 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023)

  • You are allowed to work in Australia.
